Technology and Manufacturing

From 1892 to 1945, the Armory saw some of the biggest advancements in arms technology since creation. Starting with the Krag-Jorgenson rifle during the Spanish-American War, to the Springfield Model 1903, which was used extensively in World War I, to end with the world famous M1 Garand rifle, which was carried by countless soldiers from World War II to the middle of the Vietnam War. This section explores the design, production, and usage of these weapons in different military conflicts.

People

While the weapons the Armory produced were vital to American victories, none of them would have been possible without the people who worked, and played, in the Armory. This section is devoted to the Women, African-Americans, and Immigrants who made the Armory such a success. The rights of workers were also greatly expanded during this time period. For the first time, women and men, both white and black, worked alongside each other in factories.
